Senior Game Programmer (C++)

Kuuasema, a game studio based in Helsinki, is seeking a Senior Game Programmer to join our dynamic team. With a strong team of over 50 talented individuals we have established ourselves as a prominent player in the game development industry. Our business is divided between development partner projects from renowned companies like Supercell, Rovio and Remedy, as well as the development of our own exciting IP, such as Cthulhu Keeper.

We are looking for a Senior Game Programmer to work on a long-running live game built on a proprietary engine. The role requires strong C++ expertise, the ability to work safely within a large, legacy codebase, and close collaboration with designers, QA, production, and external clients to support ongoing live operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain gameplay in C++
  • Work effectively within a large and complex codebase
  • Work closely with designers, artists, and producers to deliver features
  • Coordinate with external clients on technical topics, issues, and constraints
  • Clearly communicate technical risks, tradeoffs, and timelines
  • Participate in planning, estimations, and technical discussions
  • Collaborate with QA to diagnose and fix hard-to-reproduce bugs

Qualifications:

  • Strong professional skills with C++
  • 5+ years of experience in a gaming company
  • Experience working with large, legacy, or long-running codebases
  • Strong problem-solving and ownership mindset
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating within a larger team
  • Passion for games
